Meaning of Success
How do we define success ? or Whom should we call a successfull person ? This has been a question for very long time, and the answer varies from person to person. For many of us its is worldly success that matters and some others deny it. Both type of people have arguements in their support. Let us examine both on the basis of our Islamic belief.
Today, for many of us, what success means is just to enter a high profile profession and to lead a luxuries life where are no worries, no pains and full of enjoyment. But, actually it is not so, instead we are spoiling our precious time, in the name of enjoying life, we are simply wasting our time in darkness ! Just read on how ?
According to our Islamic belief, a Muslim is a person who submits his will to Almighty Allah and we have been sent in this world to worship Almighty Allah. We have to lead our life in accordance to his will, that is as he has stated in the Holy Quran and according to the teachings of our Beloved Prophet (Sallallahu aleihe Wa Sallam). We have no right to lead our life as per our wish.

Many people say that they want success both in this world and thereafter. But it does’nt mean that they are free to disobey the laws made by Almighty Allah, who is our Creator. People get so much involved in this world that they sometimes forget that that a day will come when they will be questioned of their deeds and will be treated accordingly.
Perhaps Our Beloved Prophet (Sallallahu aleihe Wa Sallam) denounced luxurious living . The Ruler of Madina (Sallallahu aleihe Wa Sallam) had nothing in his house, not even enough to make the two ends meet. Sayyida Ayesha (Radiallahu anha) related after his death “The Prophet (Sallallahu aleihe Wa Sallam) left this world but he never had a full meal twice a day.” She adds that the day he died, She had nothing with her except a handful of oats. Prophet (Sallallahu aleihe Wa Sallam) used to say, “Son of Adam has no right to possess anything except a small hut to live, a pair of clothes to wear, simple bread to eat and water to fill his belly.” He perhaps alluded to his own way of living in this manner, for he had a mud house with only one room, thatched with date leaves and camels’ hair.
The Beloved Prophet (Sallallahu aleihe Wa Sallam) often used to remark, “Man needs only that much of the world as a wayfarer requires petty cash to meet his urgent needs.” This was not the peace of advice ment for others. Some of his companions who were pained to see the marks of a rough mat on his body, offered to provide him a soft bedding, but he dismissed their suggession with the remark:”What have I to do with the world ? Only that much is lawful for me as a rider going on his errand requires rest under a shady tree.” Inspite of being the king of whole Arab territory, he denounced worldly comforts because our ultimate destination is ‘Akhirat’ for which we have to prepare ourself.
I am not saying that we should not make our career, infact it is permissible in Islam to fulfill our urgent needs. the only thing that I want to convey is that, we should not get so much in this world that could not differ between the right and wrong. Secondly, our way of living and the expenditure of our wealth should be in accordance with the Holy Quran and Sunnah.
Now onwards what all we need to do is to go ahead with what is right in the eyes of our Holy Prophet (Sallallahu aleihe Wa Sallam) and do not care for those worldly people wheather they laugh at us (the truth seekers) or try to deviate us by making foolish arguments. My writing will be purposeful if it brings even a bit of change in you, and I hope that Inshallah it will. So, go ahead to achieve the real, confirmed and everlasting success. Allah is with you.

Ahle Sunnah Wa’l Jama’ah
Ahl as-Sunnah wa’l-Jamā‘h-
1. The Ahl as-Sunnat Wal Jama’at is the largest group of Muslims and the only group whose beliefs and teachings are truly in accord ance with the Noble Qur’an and Sunnah of the Most Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam).
2. The beliefs of this group are the same as the beliefs of the Sahaba or Noble Companions of the Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu alaihi wa Sallam) and the Salf-e-Saliheen (our great pious predecessors).
3. In many Ahadith, the Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) strongly advised the Muslims to follow his Sunnah and to remain steadfast upon the path of his Sahaba, the Salf-e-Saliheen and the majority of Muslims to remain steadfast upon the way of the Ahl-as-Sunnah.
4. The Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “I have left two things behind me for you (the Ummah). You will never go astray as long as you follow these two things. One of these two things is Allah’s Holy Book (the Qur’an al-Kareem) and the other is the Sunnah of his Most Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam).” (Muwatta Imam Malik)
5. The Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said that after he passes away his Ummah should remain firmly steadfast upon his Sunnah and upon the way of his four Muslim Caliphs. He advised us to follow this Path alone and to be beware of innovations, which contradict the Nobel Qur’an and his Sunnah. (Abu Dawud; Tirmizi)
6. The Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Follow the way of the largest group of Muslims! For, he who deviates from this group will be thrown into Hell!” (Ibn Majah)
REMAINING WITH THE AHL AS-SUNNAH WAL JAMA’AH
1. The Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) advised us to remain firm with the largest group of Muslims and remain steadfast upon their way in beliefs and in actions.
2. The Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Allah will never allow my Ummah to unite upon misguidance and incorrect beliefs. Allah’s mercy, blessings and protection are with the largest group of Muslims. And he who deviates from this largest group of Muslims will be thrown into Hell.” (Tirmizi)
3. The Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said:
“He who deviates from the largest group of Muslims, even as much as a hand span, has himself cut off his connection with Islam”. (Abu Dawud)
ABSTAINING FROM MISGUIDED GROUPS
1. The Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) clearly warned his Ummah to completely abstain from joining in the gatherings of or listening to the words of any of the other misguided groups that will appear amongst the Muslims, whose beliefs will contradict the beliefs of the largest group of Muslims.
2. The beliefs of the largest group of Muslims will be in accordance with the Sunnah of the Holy Prophet (sallal laahu alaihi wasallam) the beliefs of the Sahaba and the Salf-e-Saliheen.
3. The Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: ” In the period prior to the Day of Judgement, false and deceitful groups will emerge. They will say things to you, which neither you nor your forefathers will have ever heard before. Stay away from these deceitful people and do not let them come near you! Do not be misguided by them and do not let them cause strife amongst you!” (Sahih Muslim)
DIVISIONS IN THE UMMAH
1. The concept of the Muslim nation separating into 73 sects, is taken from authentic Ahadith such as the following related by Hadrat Abu Hurairah (radi Allahu anhu):“
The Messenger of Allah (Salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said:
‘The Jews separated into 71 sects, and the Christians into 72, and my nation will divide into 73 sects.’” (Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, Ibn Majah)
2. The Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) said: “Seventy-two (of the 73 sects of the Muslim nation) will be in the fire, and only one will be in Paradise; it is the Jama’ah (i.e. Ahl-as Sunnah Wa Jamaah).” (Abi Dawud, Ad-Darimi, Ahmad)
3. There is another narration which states:
”The Companions asked: ‘Which sect will triumph (i.e. achieve salvation)?’ The Prophet (Salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) replied: ‘The sect which adheres to that (set of beliefs and practices) which I and my Companions adhere to.’”
4. It should be clear from these Ahadith that the one sect, out of the 73, which is to gain salvation, is the Ahl-as Sunnah Wa Jamaah, the only segment of the Muslim community which adheres to that which the Beloved Prophet (Salla Allahu alaihi wa sallam) and his Companions (radi Allahu anhum) adhered to.
OPINION OF GREAT SCHOLARS AND SAINTS
1. Ghawth-al A’zam, Hadrat Shaykh Abd’al Qadir al-Jilani (radi allahu anhu) states: “There are 73 groups as foretold by Sayyiduna Rasoolallah (Salla Allahu alaihi wa Sallam) and (bear in mind that), the Ahl as-Sunnat wal Jama’at was the rightful group”. (Ghunyatut Taalibeen)
2. Imam al-Ghazzali (radi Allahu anhu) writes:
“The Ahl as-Sunnat Wal Jama’at is the successful Firqah (group) and it is this Firqa which weighs or determines its thoughts and its according to the scales of the Noble Qur’an”. (Mujarribaate Imam Ghazal)
3. Hadrat Shah Wali’ullah Muhaddith Dehlawi (radi Allahu anhu) states: “As Rasulallah (Salla Allahu alaihi wa Sallam) has stated, follow this ‘Sawad al-A’zam’, and when the four Madhabs are within the Sawad al-A’zam then the following of any one of them, is followance of the Sawad al-A’zam. Therefore, refuting any one of them is refuting the Sawad al-A’zam”. (Aqdul Jayyad)
4. Imam Sufyan Souri (radi Allahu anhu) states,
“By Sawad al- A’zam is meant those who are called the Ahl as-Sunnah W’al Jama’ah”. (Al Mizaanul Qubra)
5. Shah Abdul Aziz Muhaddith Dehlawi (radi Allahu anhu) states in his book “Fatawa Azeezi” (Vol. 2, pg. 4) that:
“The various parts of the Ahl as-Sunnat Wal Jama’at in Aqaa’id such as the Ash’ariya, the Maaturadi, in Fiqh such as the Hanifa, the Shafi’i,the Hambali, in Tasawwaf such as the Qaderi, the Chisti, Naqshabandi, the Suhurwardi, this servant considers all of them to be the truth”.
6. Imam Rabbani, Mujaddid Alif Thaani (radi allahu anhu) states in the second chapter, page 67 of his “Maktubaat Shareef” that: “The way of salvation is followance of the Ahl as-Sunnat Wal Jama’at. May Almighty Allah Ta’ala bestow blessings upon the Ahle Sunnat Wal Jama’at, in their speech, in their actions, laws, for this is the successful group.Besides this, all other groups have become victims of deception. Today, nobody realises how much these misled groups will be punished, however, on the Day of Qiyamah this secret will become apparent. Even though at that time this knowledge will be of no benefit to the misled.

To Perform Namaaz in T-Shirt
(Darul Uloom Amjadia, India, Printed in Monthly Kanzul Iman-India)
Q: Is it allowed to perform Namaaz in a T-shirt whose sleeves are at or above elbow?
A: Hozoor Sadr-u-Sharia Aleh Rehmat says that the one who has proper clothes and still performs Namaaz wearing a T-shirt or a Vest it is considered
Karahat-e-Tanzeehi and if one does not have proper clothes than there is no Karahat in it, it is allowed. (Fatawa Amjadia Part 1, Page 193) Allah Ta’ala Knows the best.
Wearing Metallic band watch during Salaat
(Darul Uloom Amjadia, India, Printed in Monthly Kanzul Iman, India)
Q: How is it to wear a watch with metallic band? Most of the Imams wear such watches and take them off during Namaz, what is the verdict on such Imam?
A: To wear a metallic band watch and perform Namaz in it is not allowed. Like Alahazrat Imam Ahmad Raza Muhaddis-e-Barelvi (Rehmatullah Alaih) wrote: Watch’s band of Gold and silver for Man is HARAM and of other metals is prohibited. To perform Namaz or do Imamat wearing prohibited things is Makrooh-e-Tehreemi (Must repeat Namaz)-(Ahkam-e-Shariat, Part two, page 170) and it’s OK to perform Namaz behind Imams who wear such watches but take them off during Namaz. Hazrat Sadru-sh-Shariat Alaih Rehma used to perform Namaz wearing a watch and for the question on Imamat he said: If watch’s band is of some metal like Gold, Silver, Brass etc. then Namaaz will be Makrooh. Namaz should be performed after removing them. (Fatawa-e-Amjadia, Part one, Page 137)–Allah Ta’ala Knows the best.
Folding pant’s hem and performing Salah in it
(Darul Uloom Amjadia, India, Printed in Monthly Kanzul Iman, India)
Q: If the pant’s hems are at ankles can they be folded before performing Namaz?
A: If pant’s bottoms are at ankle it is not allowed to fold them to perform namaz, perform the Namaz without folding them. If pant’s hems are kept below ankles because of pride, it is HARAM, in this case Namaz will be Makrooh-e-Tehreemi (Wajib to repeat Namaz) otherwise it’s only Makrooh-e-Tanzeehi which is Khilafe Aula in Namaz. Same is written in Fatawa-e-Rizvia in part three on page 448. In case of folding the pants hems in Namaz will definitely be Makrooh-e-Tehreemi which will make it Wajib to perform the Namaz again. It’s in Hadees *. Rasool Allah Sallallahu Alaihe Wasslam said:” I was ordered that not to fold hair and cloth (In Namaz)” ted in Darr-e-Mukhtar with Shami Part one page 473. art one, Page 137)-Allah Ta’ala Knows the best.
To say and write Prophet Mohammad and Hazrat Ghous Pak as benefactor and helper
(Darul Uloom Amjadia, India, Printed in Monthly Kanzul Iman-India)
Q: Bakr says “to benefit and to help is limited to ALLAH Ta’ala only. To say and write Prophet Mohammad peace be upon him and Hazrat Ghous Pak radi ALLAH anhu as benefactor and helper is wrong”. Zaid says it is right. Which one of them is right?
A: In this described matter Zaid is right. Because to benefit and to help is personal quality (zatee sift) of ALLAH Ta’ala. Prophet Mohammad’s peace be upon him and other Ambiah karam’s and Awliah Uzzam’s quality to benefit and to help is given (to them) by ALLAH Ta’ala (which makes it ataee). Which means these qualities are given by ALLAH Ta’ala with HIS authority. ALLAH Ta’ala says 1* Part 29 Surah Dahr Ayat 2; ( ‘ALLAH Ta’ala created human (insaan) ‘Samee’ (one who hears) and ‘Baseer’ (one who sees). ‘Samee’ and ‘Baseer’ is also mentioned for ALLAH Ta’ala. It has been said 2* Part 15 Surah Bani Israel Ayat 1;(ALLAH is ‘Samee’ and ‘Baseer’ means He sees and hears). So It means that ALLAH Ta’ala’s quality of ‘Samee’ and ‘Baseer’ is personal (zatee) because to hear and see HE is not dependent on any one. But Human’s (insaan) quality of ‘Samee’ and ‘Baseer’ is given (ataee) by ALLAH Ta’ala and are not personal because human is dependent on ALLAH Ta’ala to see and hear.
Similarly ‘Raoof’ and ‘Raheem’ are also from ALLAH Ta’ala’s qualities (Sifaat). ALLAH Ta’ala says 3* Surah Baqara Ayat 143. ALLAH Rabbul Izzat also mentioned Prophet Mohammad peace be upon him as ‘Raoof’ and ‘Raheem’ in 4* Part 11 Surah Toba Ayat 128; ([your Rasool] is ‘Raoof’ and ‘Raheem’ on Muslims. So it means that ALLAH Ta’ala’s being ‘Raoof’ and ‘Raheem’ is personal (zatee) and Prophet Mohammad’s (peace be upon him) being ‘Raoof’ and ‘Raheem’ is given by ALLAH Ta’ala. In light of these Ayahs Hazrat Allama Ismail Haqqi Alaihe Rehma says with the reference of Taavilaate Najmia 5* Tafseer Roohol Bayan Part three page 544. Similarly ALLAH Ta’ala’s ability of to benefit and to help is his personal quality and authority and Ambiah karam and Awlia Uzzam’s ability to benefit and to help is given to them by ALLAH Ta’ala. Just as in Quran-e-Azeem ALLAH Ta’ala mentioned his Rasool and People of Iman as Muslims helpers, ALLAH Ta’ala says 6* Part 6 Surah Maayda Ayat 55. Therefore to say and write, Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) and Hazrat Ghous Pak (radi ALLAH anhu), as benefactor and helper is RIGHT. Allah Ta’ala Knows the best.
To say Aameen aloud or quietly when others are praying
(Darul Uloom Amjadia, India, Printed in Monthly Kanzul Iman, India)
Q: When Imam recites Ayate Durood after Jama’at the followers (Muqtadi) priase Durood aloud. Due to this some people say that since you say durood aloud you should also say Aamin aloud after Surahe Fatiha. So what is the Shara’i Verdict on such people. Some people do not say Aameen at Imam’s Dua but they say their own duas quietly. So the followers (Muqtadi) should say their own dua or say Aameen on Imam’s Dua?
A: If Muqtadis praise Durood or say Ameen with such intensity that it breaks the concentration of other people who are still praying Namaz then it is definately not allowed. If some one does that then it is given that he should be stoped forcefully, such is mentioned in Fatawa-e-Rizvia in part three on page 596. Therefore if they (who question loudness) say because of this reason then they are right (on Haq) but if no one is praying Namaz at those times than it is permissible to be aloud.
Dua is definately Amre Mehmood (likeable deed). However performed, it is allowed. ALLAH Ta’ala says 1*. But is better to say Aameen at Imam’s Dua than perform Dua alone. Because if mutiple people would say Aameen at Imam’s Dua then Dua will be Aqrab Baqabool (better chances to come true). Alahazrat Imam Ahmad Raza Muhadis-e-Brelvi radiallah anhu writes,”There is blessing in Jama’at and Dua of a group of Musims is Aqrab Baqabool. Scholars mention that wherever there are 40 True Muslims gathered among them one is a Wali (ALLAH Tala’s beloved) for sure. (better chances to come true). Fatawa-e-Rizvia, Book 9, Part one, Page 157.
Allah Ta’ala Knows the best.
